Pristine South Tasmania

Pristine South Tasmania 2024 | Page 91 The coastline is the envy of the world, with fantastic towns to stop at and discover along the way. One-hour north of Hobart lies Orford, at the mouth of the Prosser River and the bay, combining river side and beach side living. It’s also a great base for visiting Maria Island and great beaches, including Raspins, Shelley and Spring beaches. If you are interested in boating and kayaking, further north the crystal clear waters of Coles Bay have you covered. This beautiful town is also a great place to stay if you are visiting the Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay. Tasmania’s largest town on the northeast is St Helens. With a large fishing port, the area is renowned for its lure of deep sea fish, white sandy beaches and laid back lifestyle. St Helens Point is a great one-hour return walk from town, taking you to the incredible Peron Dunes. St Helens is also your last stop before one of the most awe-inspiring places in the world, the beautiful Bay of Fires at Binalong Bay. Lonely Planet named the Bay of Fires one of the world’s must-see travel destinations; the coastal stretch features iconic rocky boulders with earthy-orange tones, crystal clear waters and pristine beaches. EAST COAST Driving through Tasmania’s east coast can take a while, but only because you will want to stop at every turn to visit wonderful sites, take lots of photos and explore the beautiful beaches and five national parks.
