Pristine South Tasmania

Pristine South Tasmania 2024 | Page 87 The capital city of Tasmania was founded in 1804 and is nestled at the base of kunanyi/Mount Wellington. Hobart blends heritage with natural scenery. Situated on the Derwent River, Hobart is well known for its sandstone buildings, botanical gardens and the iconic Tasman Bridge. Shopping choices are plentiful in the CBD and suburb of Sandy Bay. Saturday mornings there’s the Salamanca Market, world famous for fantastic Tasmanian produce, handmade goods and tasty food. The Constitution Dock is home to Hobart’s fishing fleet, yachts and a variety of other vessels. It’s also the finishing line for the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race which begins on Boxing Day. Food and beverage options are plentiful on the waterfront and in North Hobart, the main road is home to many cafés, restaurants, bars and the iconic State Cinema. South Hobart sits under kunanyi/Mount Wellington and is close to nature; you will forget you are minutes from the CBD. The Casade Brewery, the oldest brewery in Australia, is located here, with beautiful gardens and tours available. If you are interested in beautiful historical buildings, Battery Point is filled with history and charm. Weatherboard cottages and 19th century sandstone buildings fill the streets. Once a workers’ village, Battery Point is now one of the most desirable real estate areas in Tasmania. HOBART Japanese Gardens at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.
